We spoke to the SWFC supporters club ahead of our big game against them…
You scored a very last-minute winner last time against us. How well did you play in that game? And what was it about your tactics that got a draw against us?
We played well that day. It was still very much in the early days of Monks start at Hillsborough, without the well documented fall outs with Westwood and Hutchinson, and we were unfortunate to go behind. We were relentless in our attacking play back then and it took us to 3rd in the League at Christmas. Nobody would have predicted our fall since then…
Who’s been your standout player so far this season?
Since Christmas – you’d have to say loanee Jacob Murphy. Think we’d all be pleased to see him back for another season loan next year.
What positions would you say are your weakest? And who (realistically) would you like to sign for next season?
Right now – up front. With the players that have left us now at the end of their contracts – we only have one recognised striker left.
Where do you think you will finish next season and why?
With the potential points deduction for FFP hanging over us its impossible to predict this season – never mind next. If we stay up you have to hope we can rebuild this summer and finish top half next year.
Fulham VS Sheffield Wednesday: what’s the first thing that comes to mind from years gone by?
The game at Craven Cottage a few years ago – last weekend before Christmas. Packed away end, we lost 4-0 – and still completely outsang the home fans. Our fans have been outstanding throughout 20 years of under achievement and that day was really special.
How do you see the game going?
Sadly, I can’t see anything other than a home win in this game – and we really do need some points to offset whatever may be announced by the EFL in the coming days.
Top 6 and Bottom 3 predictions?
I think Leeds and WBA done enough now for auto, can’t see Millwall beaking into the current play off positions. Barnsley, Hull & Luton will go down – unless we get sufficient points to join them.
Thank you to the Sheffield Wednesday FC supporters club for answering our questions.
