We spoke to the Arsenal Editor to get a Gunners perspective ahead of our opening Premier League game on Saturday…

How good of a job has Arteta done since he took over?

Arteta has done the unthinkable since he has come to the emirates, Arsenal looked nothing but shambolic in the last few weeks of Unai Emery’s tenure and just as bad in the following 4 weeks with Freddie Ljungberg in charge. In late December Mikel Arteta came in with an ere of mystery and hasn’t disappointed. You can argue that he didn’t move much in the league table but you can’t dispute the fact he turned what looked a finished season by November into a trophy-winning one! The project is promising and we are all behind him.

Who do you think will be your standout player this season?

There are many options for this one, with the likes of Pepe only improving you could see him as a vital player for Arsenal in the coming season but I think there is the obvious answer in Aubameyang, the Gabonese striker does not disappoint and to get him to sign a new deal would be vital for the gunners, he provides when Arsenal need it most and without him, Arsenal could be in a very bad position at this moment in time, so all in all, it has to be Auba.

How confident are you going into the start of this season because of your triumphs in both the FA Cup and Community Shield?

You will always have an extra bit of confidence after a trophy win but we definitely know where we stand and how far behind we are of our main competitors in Liverpool, City, United and Tottenham. Arsenal supporters around the globe definitely need to know this will be a long term process and results may not start pretty!

What signings would you like to make this transfer window?

There is a lot of business that needs to be done but there are two key players we at Arsenal all want and that is Aouar and Partey, they will add that finishing touch to our midfield but will come at a hefty price if the board get this deal done there will be many happy Gooners!

Where do you think you will finish this season?

In my head Arsenal will finish 5th or 6th at best if Partey and Aouar aren’t to be brought in, with those additions you could definitely see Arsenal edging closer to the top 4 but in my head 5th or 6th it is for us.

What are your predictions for the top 4 and bottom 3 this season?

This is always an entertaining one to predict at the start of the season and honestly this season is a tougher one, with the extreme different circumstances there is a possibility there will be extremely different outcomes! Despite this I am going to stick with a more traditional top 4 with Man City winning it, Liverpool runners up, Chelsea third place and Man United clinching 4th in the last minute under pressure from Arsenal and Wolves.

The bottom three is an easier one for me, unfortunately, I have Fulham in 18th, West Brom 19th and Aston Villa finishing rock bottom.

Fulham vs Arsenal: What’s the first thing that comes to mind from years gone by?

The first thing that comes to mind when I heard that Arsenal were playing Fulham away to start the season was that magnificent win in 2018 when Ramsey added the finishing touch to the most beautiful team goal of the season, Arsenal winning that one 5-1.

Score prediction?

I’m confident going into this one but you know with Arsenal anything can happen, I’m going with a 3-1 Arsenal.
