Match Preview: Wolves

MOLINEUX STADIUM | 14:00 KO

We are terrible. As if losing to Villa and Brentford wasn’t bad enough, we now face Wolves at Molineux. This could be messy…

I didn’t think I could make me feel any worse than I did after the Villa game, somehow the match against Brentford did. How can we lose 3-0 to a team in the division below with a team stronger than the team we beat them with? Anyway, we have to move on. We have Wolves next in a game that will certainly have a lot of goals with the majority going into our net. I don’t know how our Championship level defence is going to deal with Neto, Jimenez and Traore but they all need to be at their best or we are in trouble.

In terms of a team, I think we should make nine changes from the team that lost to Brentford in the week. I would start Areola in goal with Odoi, Hector, Le Marchand and Bryan in front of him. Cairney and Anguissa holding with Decordova-Reid in the number 10 role. Upfront I would have Lookman on the right, Cavaleiro on the left with Mitro upfront. I would not risk Reed as we can’t afford to rush him back and lose him for longer.

I think we will lose 4-1 with a Mitro goal.

WOLVES 1-0 FULHAM

The last time we played Wolves was in May 2019 where we lost 1-0 at Molineux. European contenders Wolves needed Leander Dendoncker to score an acrobatic volley to win them the game against an already relegated Fulham side. This game is remembered most notably for Harvey Elliott coming on to break the record as the youngest ever Premier League player at 16 years and 30 days.

Battle To Watch

Adama Traore vs Joe Bryan

Adama Traore is a 24-year-old pace merchant who plays on the right-wing for Wolves. Despite coming through the Barcelona academy, Traore is the opposite of a traditional Barca player relying on his physical attributes rather than his technical. He is fast and strong and if he is in form he can be a handful for even the best defenders in the world. Unfortunately, we don’t have one of the best defenders in the world we have Joe Bryan who is likely to be bullied all game.
