Match Preview: Sheffield United

After a good transfer window in which we strengthened our squad significantly, Sheffield United provide our first challenge after the international break. The season starts now…

Despite a lot of criticism, I feel like Tony Khan did very well in the transfer window. The signing of Ruben Loftus Cheek will add a lot of dynamism and creativity in midfield alongside Anguissa and whoever we play with them. Joachim Andersson is would have been a fantastic addition until he got injured in a typical Fulham way with Terrence Kongolo and Tosin Adarabioyo both upgrades in defence. Sheffield United have been very poor this season sitting on zero points this season along with us and Burnley. This game is very important in getting us off the mark and start climbing the table.

In terms of team selection, I think that both of the new signings should start. In goal, I would start Areola with a back four of Robinson, Le Marchand, Adarabioyo and Aina. In the midfield pivot, I would play Anguissa and Cairney with Loftus Cheek in the number 10 role. In the forward positions, I would start Bryan on the left, Lookman on the right and Mitro upfront.

I think we will win 2-1 with goals for Mitro and Lookman.

Fulham 3-0 Sheffield Utd (2017/18)

The last time we played Sheffield United we came out 3-0 victors at Craven Cottage in March 2018. Aleksander Mitrovic scored twice to give us a two-nil lead at half time before Tom Cairney made it three in the second half. This win helped us on our way to our Wembley triumph against Villa.

Battle To Watch

Sander Berge vs Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Sander Berge is a 22-year-old defensive midfielder who plays for Sheffield United. Berge signed for Sheffield in January from Belgian side Genk becoming their record signing in the process. It is likely that he will line up against our new signing Ruben Loftus-Cheek this weekend with both midfielders key for either side. This battle could be key in deciding this weekends result.
