FPL Focus: Gameweek 13 and 14

Welcome back to our FPL Focus article, where we discuss everything FPL based. In this article, I will be providing you with some previous stats from my season-long tips and bargain buys. I will also be looking at who to bring in for the coming gameweeks and who can be your precious captain. I shall be adding a new feature in the coming article’s, focusing on which Fulham player will be most likely to succeed in the coming weeks, points wise.

Well, what an international break that was, pride fully installed into the national side once more, premier league players performing on the international stage left right and centre AND Slav has gone! Instantly replaced by Ranieri, will any Fulham defenders finally be picked in people’s fantasy teams? Time will only tell.

Below you will find the points review of my season-long tips and bargain buys and some information on whether to keep or even invest in them. Alongside these tips will be their fixtures etc. If you do not want to see these just skip past them to the new tips below.

Aubameyang

Points – 67

Upcoming matches – Bournemouth (A), Spurs (H).

Aubameyang lost his place in my team two weeks ago and well, there’s a good reason for it, his upcoming run of fixtures is not pretty. That coupled with his current back injury, you should be looking to spend your money elsewhere for a few weeks, try to get him back in for game week 16. Auabameyang only picked up 4 points in his last two game weeks.

Bernado Silva

Points – 56

Upcoming matches – West Ham (A), Bournemouth (H).

The ever-steady Bernado Silva, constantly picking up points ranging between 4-7 each week. Still at a price of £7.5 million is ludicrous and you simply can’t afford to not have him in your team, especially with how much Guardiola rates him and De Bruyne’s injury.

Andros Townsend

Points – 31

Upcoming matches – Man Utd (A), Burnley (H).

Townsend has finally scored a goal, much like the palace team as a whole he has struggled so far, the goal came at Stamford Bridge of all places. Andros has picked up 9 points in his last two gameweeks.

Last Article’s Captain Choices

Gameweek 11 – Aguero

Points – 26 (13 without captaincy).

What a cracking return for the new man to my team, Aguero.

Gameweek 12 – Liverpool front three player

Points – N/A

Salah would have got you 16 points as captain, with Firmino and Mane scoring much less. Not quite the high scorers (thankfully for Fulham) I would have imagined.

Bargain Buys

We will now look at how our ‘bargain buys’ section of players that we had chosen at the start of the season and see how they are performing, these will not necessarily be the highest scorers, but great squad fillers who have the capability to step up for a low value.

Joe Gomez

Price – £5.1 million (risen by £0.1 million)

Points – 46

Upcoming fixtures – Watford (A), Everton (H).

Gomez’s form shows no sign of easing up, for club and country he has been simply brilliant. Still at an unbelievably low price.

Lewis Cook

Price – £5 million (dropped to £4.8 million)

Points – 18

Upcoming fixtures – Arsenal (H), Man City (A).

Tough upcoming fixtures, keep as a bench player or look elsewhere for the time being.

Cenk Tosun

Price – £7 million (dropped to £6.7 million)

Points – 28

Upcoming fixtures – Cardiff (H), Liverpool (A).

Tosun has not played in Everton’s last two matches.

Josh King

Price – £6.5 million (dropped to £6.3 million)

Points 44

Upcoming fixtures – Arsenal (H), Man City (A).

Josh has been injured, hard fixtures coming up. Definitely transfer someone else in.

Looking Ahead to the Next Two Weeks

Who to transfer in?

When looking for players to bring in, the number one thing you have to do is to look at their upcoming fixtures, it really will give you the edge. The only exception to this is for players of Manchester City’s calibre who should be in your team all season.

With this in mind, we are concentrating on Newcastle’s sturdy defensive line and an attacking option from Manchester United.

Martin Dubravka / DeAndre Yedlin

Newcastle have a run of 6 ‘winnable’ games coming up leading to a boxing day trip to Liverpool and with their defensive solidarity, you really can’t miss out on those possible 6 points each week. Dubravka has picked up a mighty impressive 18 points in his last 3 games, whilst Yedlin has picked up 15 in the same period. The price’s for these players are what make them even more appealing, Dubravka sits at £5 million and is a guaranteed starter and Yedlin will only cost you £4.5 million and is a mainstay in their defence as well as an attacking threat who could provide an assist or two.

Anthony Martial

Image: intersport.id

Martial has been Manchester United’s bright spark in these past 5 weeks, picking up a whopping 54 points in that period alone. United only play 3 of the ‘top 6’ teams in their next 15 league fixtures and really need to be kicking on. Martial only has a 75% chance of playing this weekend according to the website so it may be worth holding out on this one for one gameweek.

Who to Captain

Gameweek 13 – Richarlison.

Cardiff at home, I’m getting bored of picking players against Cardiff, but in this gameweek, he’s the only real option other than Aguero for me.

Gameweek 14 – Anthony Martial

Southampton away, with their torrid form and United’s need for wins I’m hoping that this will be a successful call.

Which teams have the easiest fixtures in the coming month?

Check out these following teams who have easy fixtures in this coming month, who will also have some cheap players.

West Ham, Manchester United & Newcastle.

Which teams to avoid having players from for now?

Whilst looking at who we should bring it, it’s important to know who to take them out for, so these teams following will have a hard fixture list in the coming months;

Crystal Palace – a real stinker of a run coming up.

Chelsea – They have some very difficult fixtures coming their way, whilst it will be hard to transfer out the likes of Hazard as he can perform against anyone in this league, now may be the time to look elsewhere for a bit.

Which Fulham players to choose/have been performing well?

Brand new shiny addition, being Fulham Focus I should really be well, focusing on Fulham a bit more! Whilst there’s not too much to say after an international break AND a new manager that can be any help to anyone in these coming gameweeks I thought I would add this in now just for a heads up on what’s to come in the next article and so forth.

One player who has been performing well in the international break is Mitrovic and you can guarantee he will be starting our next league match, so if you want a Fulham player that is where you should go.

Another player who I think may surprise everyone and start alongside Mitrovic if Ranieri decides to go for a 2 up top is Vietto, with his pace I can see him being a good choice for Ranieri, much like Vardy at Leicester.

Fulham Focus League

Leaders

1 – Paul Gabb 814 points.

The ever-present Paul Gabs still sits pretty at the top of the pile.

2 – George Currie 808 points.

George stays second for the second article in a row.

3 – Paul Camp 790 points.

Mr Camp has battled his way back into the top 3, it doesn’t appear he’s going to let up this season and will be on the tail of the number one spot.

Important Tip

I will keep repeating this coming part!

Do NOT jump into anything hastily, keep your Wildcard (unless you have an injury crisis or are really behind the leaders), save your triple captain for a double gameweek AND try and keep your bench boost for a week where all of your players will start and play against appealing opposition. Trust me, there will be one week which sticks out above the rest and you’ll be gutted if you shoot too early.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to writing the eighth article in 2 weeks time! – @lukealele.
