Why Arsenal, not Fulham?

I’m an Arsenal fan because of my family who grew up in Kentish Town and in my early days, everyone supported Man Utd. There’s still time to support Fulham who knows what this walk will bring up.

Β

Are you prepared for a lot of talk about Fulham on the road?

Unfortunately, I think with all these Fulham fans surrounding me I don’t really have a choice in the matter hence the possibility of becoming a convert at the end!

Β

Favourite Fulham vs Arsenal match (home or away)?

Favourite Fulham vs Arsenal match? It’s hard to pick one. I’m not a diehard fan with the prices and limited time to go to matches. Having moved up North nearly 10 years ago, I know a little more about the Latics having been a season ticket holder before my daughter was born. The 3-2 last year was pretty good, obviously losing to a last-gasp winner wasn’t!

Should we all wear #Wenger out t-shirts on the walk?

#WengerOut is a big no-no for me. For what he’s given the club it can be something more #WengerPleaseGo

Emirates, Highbury or Craven Cottage?

Highbury for sure, the atmosphere was electric not just because we were winning too.

Β

Who’d complete a Fulham2Birminghamwalk quicker, Gunnersauras or Billy the Badger & why?

I would say Gunnersauras but if his laces came undone he’d be in trouble with those short arms!

What made you get involved with the walk?

Peter Jones and his annoying videos! Only joking Peter. Since the birth of my daughter last year, I’ve felt a responsibility to both of my girls to be a good role model. Having walked the Coast to Coast last year, this ticked a lot of boxes and when I heard the appalling stats I just knew I had to join in and help raise awareness.

How’s training going?

How’s training going is an interesting question as it’s just walking right? ha-ha. I’ve been concentrating on strengthening my core and flexibility. Walking over 120 miles last year, my feet took a battering, but I’ve learned that whatever happens mental toughness will see you through.

If you could pick one person from Football past or present to walk the final few miles with you who would it be & why?

Would have to be Dennis Bergkamp and that’s not just because he wouldn’t fly. What a legend and with those feet, I’m sure he’d dance all the way.

You’re going to need a few tunes to keep you going. Which artist features most on your playlist and what’s your guilty pleasure song?

I’ve got a bad guilty pleasure. I went to see David Brent’s movie life on the Road and the songs just make me laugh. I’m probably going to get involved in a few Harry Potter audiobooks on the route as I’ll need to zone out.

Will you make kick off?

There’s more chance of Ryan Sessegnon being picked for England than me missing kick off. I’m there!

Pie or Pasty, which filling?

Pie or Pasty, does there have to be a choice can I not have them both? As an honorary northerner, I’d have to say Pie and chunky steak for the win! Stick it in a barm cake though πŸ™‚

This is going to be an epic journey with a lot of self-discovery and time to think and reflect on life. With my wife suffering from depression and friends who have been close to the edge I’m walking for them and all the people that haven’t been so lucky to receive the help and support.
